Healthy sleep is fundamental to youths’ development and is linked to physical and mental wellbeing and positive outcomes. In contrast, insufficient sleep can have negative effects across several aspects of daily functioning such as mood, emotion regulation, concentration, and attention. Over time, poor sleep can lead to physical and mental problems, and poor educational and occupational outcomes. Increasingly, teachers, health professionals, and policymakers are recognising the importance of understanding and promoting healthy sleep during the adolescent years.
Which schools can help?
We are recruiting 16 to 20 year old students from high schools and tertiary institutions such as TAFE and universities in Melbourne, Victoria.
How can schools help the CLASS study?
You can help us reach out to your 16 to 20 year old students (and their parents/guardians if the students are < 18 years old), and encourage them to participate in this important study. Below are some examples of how your school could help out:

Email the attached flyer to your students (and their parents if the students are < 18 years old)
Mention this study at a school assembly or parent information night
Distribute the attached flyer (social media version) through relevant social media channels, newsletter, and website
Allow our researchers to visit your school to handout flyers and chat about the study to teachers, students, and/or their parents (f the students are < 18 years old)
How can schools benefit from the CLASS study?
If you are able to help us with promoting the CLASS study at your school, we can send you a youth sleep information pack (PDF) to say thank you.
In some cases we might be able to also offer a customised youthsleep and wellbeing or sleep science and careers presentation to your students and/or their parents. During the presentation we would explain the CLASS study and invite students to participate. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like to discuss this option.
